Aditi Somyanarayan

Aditi is a non-verbal autistic teen, aged 18. She communicates largely using an iPad and studies at the Ishanya India Foundation, a learning centre in Bengaluru. 2020 was a very unique year. The lockdown took Aditi’s understanding of structure and threw it out of the window, replacing it with something new and unknown. Aditi has been a part of online classes, which has ensured continuity in learning. As with anything new, she has had a learning curve, but she has learnt and grown and that is a huge positive. Online art classes at Ishanya were one of the first online classes that Aditi was a part of. It helped hugely in the process of adapting to learn in the new way and also gave an expression to some of her emotions.
